赤平太（Aka-heita） ― 2021/07/10
平太は4～5年前に東京にいた時に作ったものです。
とにかく彫るだけ彫って彩色は後にしようという考えでいました。
そのおかげで今はこうして彩色に追われています(笑)。
Heita was made when I was in Tokyo 4-5 years ago.
Anyway,I was thinking of carving just by carving and colouring later.
Thanks to that, I am now chased by colouring like this(laughing).
逆さにして鼻の穴を彫ります。
Turning it upside down and carving a nostril.
こうやって手に持って見るのが大事ですゾ。
It's important to hold it in your hand and see it like this.
エクボを彫ります。

センターを確認して。

額ラインの確認。

上口ラインを確認。
頬は大きめに彫って置いて後から削ります。

彫り完了です。

反りの部分を落とします。

裏面を彫っています。
The back side is being carved.
漆一回目塗りです。
見ているうちに段々あめ色になって行くのが分かります。
It is the first application of lacquer.
As you're looking at it, you can see that it's gradually turning amber.
漆2回目です。
この時は上手く乾かなかったのを思い出します。
そうすると箱ごと風呂場に持って行って・・・
結構余計な労力が増えるので一発で固まらせたいものです。
It is the second time of lacquer.
I remember that it didn't dry well at this time.
Then I'm taking the whole box to the bathroom...
It will increase a lot of extra effort, so I want to solidify it once.
胡粉を塗って下地処理します。
I'm applying whitewash and preparing the groundwork.
最初は白平太にするつもりが・・・。
I was painting with the intention of making it white at first...
凸凹部に古色として[梅ねずみ色]を塗りました。
I painted reddish pink as an antique color on the unevenness.
やっぱり赤平太に変更します。
思った色にならないので一旦色を落とします。
After all I changed it to aka-heita.
I didn't get the colour I expected, so I removed the colour once.
再度、下地色を塗りましたがちょっと明るすぎますね。
駄目だ、やり直そう。
I painted the base colour again, but it's a little too bright.
No, I'll do it again.
再々度、色を落とします。
なかなかこれが厄介でね、そう何回も出来ないですね。
ここまでで数日費やしてます。

This is quite tricky.I can't do it many times.
I've spent a few days so far.
ちょっと黄土と黒を混ぜて色を落ち着かせました。
今度は上手くいくかな。
I mixed a little ocher and black to calm the colour.
I hope it goes well next time.
