雷 彩色完了 (Ikazuchi recoloured) ― 2021/06/05
先週末、少し有名になったバスセンターのカレーを食べました。
昔から変わらずでスパイシーでおいしかったです。3週連続でした。
休日でなくと長蛇の列が出来るのですが、コロナ禍なのでそんなに
混んでませんでしたよ。
Last weekend, I ate a curry at the bus centre that became a little famous.
It was spicy and delicious as it used to be.
It was 3 weeks in a row. There is a long queue if it's not a holiday,
It wasn't so crowded because it was coronavirus crisis.
夜の部と違ってみなさん黙々と食べているので感染はしないと思いますが、
一抹の不安もありますね。何せ周囲は人だらけですからね。
バスセンターもリニューアルで奇麗になったので、万代シティをブラつきたい
のですが駐車料金も気になるのでサッサと帰りました(笑)。

雷の彩色をやり直しました。
気持ちの持ち方としては一旦完成した面をダメにする覚悟ですね。
まず色を剥ぎ取ります。よく見るとこれで完成の色合いとして
もおかしくないほど色がアットランダムです。
I recoloured Ikazuchi. My feeling is that you're prepared
to ruin the finished mask. First stripping the colour.
If you're taking a closer look, the colour is at random
as if it is not strange as a finished colour with this.
出来るだけ胡粉を取り除きます。
部分的に残しておいてもそれはそれでアクセントとなり作り手の
自由でしょう。
Removing the whitewash as much as possible.
Even if you leave it partially, it will be an accent with it.
I think that's creator's choice.
数日間乾燥させます。
You're making it dry for a few days.
ペーパーを掛けた後、胡粉で下地を作ります。
同じ事を2度やるということは根気が要りますぞ。
いやいや、同じものは一つとして出来ないと言った方が
正確かも知れません。
After sandpapering, making a base with whitewash.
Doing the same thing twice requires patience.

ゴツゴツしていて指先が悲鳴を上げてきました。
It was rugged and my fingertips began to scream.
細部に胡粉が入って下地作りの1段階が終わりました。
しかし余り奇麗に入り過ぎても面白くありません。
There is whitewash in the details and one step of
making the groundwork is over. But it is not interesting
to put too beautifully.
部分的に色を変えて塗ります。
Partially changing the colour and paint.
少しづつ完成に向かっています。

曲見 彩色完了（Shakumi recoloured） ― 2021/06/12
この面は唯一桧を使ったお面でした。しかしわびさびが感じられず
彩色がイマイチだったので思い切ってやり直した次第です。
まず色を落とします。このまま完成としても
おかしくないくらい表面がバラエティに富んでます(笑)。
This was the only mask using Japanese cypress.
But I made up my mind and recoloured it because I couldn't feel
wabi-sabi and the colouring was not good.
First I'm scraping off the colour. The surface is full of variety
so that it wouldn't be strange if it was completed as it is (laughing).
乾燥する前に出来るだけ胡粉を取り除きます。
これもこのままでもいいなあ。
I'm removing as much whitewash as possible before drying.
This can be left as it is.
これくらいで良しとしましょう。
I'll let it go at this.
ペーパーを掛けた後、この際なので気になった箇所を削ります。
After sandpapering,I will scrape the area that bothers me on this occasion.
裏面では鼻の彫りが足りなかったのでより深く彫りました。
既に漆は固まっていますが彫刻刀で削るのに問題はありません。
On the back side, the nose was not carved enough, so I carved it deeper.
Although the lacquer has already hardened, there is no problem
to sharpen with a chisel.
下塗り開始です。
Undercoating has started.
胡粉＋ペーパー掛けを4サイクル前後やります。
About 4 cycles of whitewash + sandpapering.
いい感じになりました。
It sounds nice.
次に上塗りです。
仕上げ胡粉に黄土を加えベースを作ります。
Next is the top coat.
Adding ocher to the finish whitewash to make a base.
さあ、クライマックスの難しい彩色です。
何種類かの岩絵の具を膠で溶いて塗る準備します。

I'm preparing to melt and apply some types of
natural mineral pigments with glue.
髪の毛の型紙を当ててエンピツで優しくなぞります。
左右均等になるように調整しながらやります。
You're gently tracing with a pencil along the hair pattern.
You're adjusting symmetrically.
髪の毛を描いている場面です。曲見はほつれ付きの三段毛描きです。
筆がズレても修正は効きませんので集中して一気に仕上げます。
電話が鳴っても止めれませんが、この時に電話が鳴ったことは
一度もありません(笑)。間違ったら下地からやり直しです。

You need to finish it all at once.

1回目よりは良くなったみたいだね。

姥1 彩色完了（Uba1 recoloured） ― 2021/06/19
やっと集団接種が始まりましたね。明日は朱鷺メッセで高齢の父親の
接種です。これで家庭内感染の可能性も少しは減るでしょう。
明日はバスセンターのカレーでも食べに行くとしよう。
The group vaccination has finally begun.

年齢を重ねた姥ですが顔の色が単調では面白くありませんね。
ということで姥も色を塗り直しました。まず色を落とします。
このままでもいい感じですね。
This is tha mask of an aged woman, but it's not interesting
if the colour of the face is monotonous.
So I recoloured Uba. First I'm scraping off the colour.
It looks good as it is.
結構いい具合に胡粉を落とせました。
I was able to remove the whitewash quite nicely.
苦労して描いた老婆の毛書きですが惜しみなく落とします。
I had a hard time drawing an old woman's hair,
but I will scrape it off generously.
下塗りからスタートします。
Undercoating has started.
いい感じに下地が出来ました。
The base coat has been made nicely.
古色もいい感じで出たようです。
Looks like it became a nice antique colour.
完成です。
もちろん歳相応にシミ・皺・そばかす・黄ばみ・汚れ・ホクロ
のある顔になりました。
It's completed.
Of course,I put age spots,wrinkles,freckles,yellow stain,
dirt and moles as if it looks her age.
