泥眼 （Deigan） ― 2025/05/04
只今、5月の連休の真っ只中です。
30日は仕事でしたが、あとは6日まで休みです。
この歳になって連休をほぼフルで休めるのはいい事なんでしょうね。
I'm currently in the middle of the May holidays.
I worked on the 30th, but I'm off until the 6th.
I guess it's a good thing that at my age I can take almost the entire holiday off.
もっとも365日休みにしてもおかしくないんですが、トランプ関税などで
この先どうなるか分からない。健康がこのままずっと続くとも限らない。
年金はどうする？

There is no guarantee that my health will continue like this forever.

今回、漆に被れるのが早くなった。もしかしたら体力が落ちてきているのかも
知れない。同じ行動してもどこかに影響が出る。きっと年なんでしょう(笑)。

埋木を漆でくっつけて、そして裏面に漆を2回塗って、合計作業が3回になった。
もちろん今は被れています。お湯を沸かして道具を準備してまた片づけて・・・手間が三倍。

Boiling water, preparing the tools, and then cleaning up again...three times the effort.
今は彫りに徹してますが、これに胡粉仕上げ及び彩色が加わるともう収拾付きません。
いつも数個同時進行なので作業は煩雑気味になります。まあ、1個でも同じか。
I'm currently focusing on carving.

I always work on several at the same time, so the work tends to be complicated.

あと数個小面系の女面を彫ってデータを蓄積しいよいよ彩色に突入かな。

削っては当てて、削っては当ててやっとのことで接着してみました。
ところが寒の戻りで気温が上がらず漆がなかなか乾きません。
風呂場の蒸気の中に一晩置いて見ましたが、換気扇が効いていて
蒸気が逃げていました。
I scraped it off and finally managed to glue it together.
However, The chill is making a fierce comeback.
The temperature has not risen, so the lacquer is taking a long time to dry.
I left it in the steam of the bathroom overnight.
The exhaust fan was on and the steam was gone.
さあ、換気扇を消してやり直し。これだけで2週間かかりました。
しかしまだ乾かないので直接水を付けて見て更に1週間。
夏場だったら1日で片付くものが既に3週間かかっています。
Now, turn off the fan and try again. This alone took two weeks
However, it is still not dry, so I put water directly on it and waited another week.
What would have taken a day in the summer has already taken three weeks.
この間、漆に被れて風呂に入るとジュワーッと何とも言いようのない
痛痒さと気持ちよさ。何回これを味わってきたことか(笑)。
と言うことで泥眼は一旦後回しにして次行こう。

少し前から英訳に掛ける時間が少なくなりました。慣れたんでしょう。
しかし出来るだけ日本語英語、直訳にならないよう修正は欠かせません。
まあ、どうしても分からなければ飛ばすか、日本語の方を変えます。

Well, if you really can't understand it, just skip it or change the Japanese version.
どちらかというと日本語の文章を作る方が難しいんです。
元ネタですからね。しかしこれもまたなかなか一発では出来ません。
何回か修正を重ねます。
If anything, it's more difficult to create sentences in Japanese.
It's the original source. However, this is also difficult to do on the first try.
I'll correct it a few times.
何行も続くと読む方も疲れるでしょうし、論文にならないよう程々にしないとね。
アルコール片手に軽く読まれる位が良いのではないでしょうか(笑)。
ともかく訳は必ずしも文章が一対一とはならないのでそれなりに難しいです。

I have to do it in moderation so it doesn't turn into a thesis.

泥眼は結構作りましたが、十数個目辺りからやっとそれらしくなってきました。
要点が少しずつ分かって来た気がします。しかしまたまた埋木が発生してしまいました。
