材料調達（Material procurement） ― 2022/12/03
本日は数年ぶりに材料調達に出かけました。またとない快晴です。
この日を逃すと今月はもうないかも知れません。
新潟の冬場は月に2日くらいしか晴れの日が期待できません。
Today I went out to purchase materials for the first time in several years.
It's really sunny today. If you miss this day,
you may not have such a good day this month.
You can expect sunny days only about two days a month in winter in Niigata.
早速、飯豊連峰の絶景を見ながら阿賀野川の土手をひた走り
現地に向かいました。今回は先方様の好意により車に積みきれない
ほど頂きましたので2回戦の運搬となりました。
First, I drove along the bank of Agano-river and went to the location
while watching the scenery of Iide Mountains.
This time, thanks to his kindness, I received more than I could load in my car.
So I had to carry them twice.
久々に重いものを持ったのでちょっと体に堪えてます。
これだけあれば数年は大丈夫でしょう(笑)。数週間乾かして
カット寸法を出して切出しとなります。
I carried some heavy stuff and now my lower back hurts.
This should be enough for a few years(laughing).
After drying for several weeks, you'll get cut dimensions and cut out.
まだ水分が多いので時折ひっくり返してカビが生えない様
にしなくては。
These woods still contain a lot of water, so
you have to turn it over occasionally to keep it from growing mold.
べし見悪尉2 その2（Beshimi-akujo2 part2） ― 2022/12/09
この様な彫りの深い面もそうですが指標となる型紙を使って作っています。
しかし各ラインの間は何も指標となるものがないわけで、
言わばフィーリングで彫っています。
It's the same for such a deeply chiseled face, it is made using a pattern paper
that becomes an index. However, there is no guideline between each lines.
So to speak, I'm carving with feeling.
しかしながらどのお面も各ラインの間の表面は滑らかに削られて
結果的に完成に結び付いています。何か法則でもありそうですね。
The surface between each line is smoothly shaved in every mask.
which is resulting in comletion. There seems to be some kind of rule.
特に目の下の頬の出っ張りから口元にかけての曲面は
極端に言えばどう彫ってもおよそその様な形にたどり着きます。
不思議と言えば不思議ですね。科学的に調べれば何か法則が
あるかもしれません。
Especially, the curved surface between the bulge of cheeks under eyes and the mouth.
To speak of extremes, no matter how you carve it, you will reach the shape like that.
That's strange. If you look it up scientifically, there may be some kind of rule.
さて、面に戻ります。およそイメージが掴めるでしょうか。
OK, back to the mask. Can you get an image ?
型紙を当てた時に頂点から両端部まで全部合っていなければなりません。
この確認をどこかでしないと型紙の存在の意味がありません。
When you put the pattern paper, all must match from the top to the both ends.
If you don't check this at some point, there is no meaning in the existence of the paper pattern.
型紙②は結果的にその後もう少し丸美を帯せました。
As a result, the paper pattern ② was a little more rounded after that.
アゴも合うかどうか確認します。
I have to check if the chin fits.
鼻両端の窪みは後から彫りました。
型紙も一旦切って後からくっつけました。
急激な落ち込みのある狭い箇所はその方がスムーズに行きます。
The dents on both ends of the nose were carved later.
I cut the pattern paper once and attached it later.
It goes smoothly in a narrow spot with a sharp drop.
おぼろげながら形になってきました。
あともう少しですね。
It's starting to take shape.
It's a little bit more.
先週、手持ちの材料が少なくなって来たので調達してきました。
およそ10個の丸太を車に積んだのですが、結構腰に来ましたね。
Last week, I ran out of materials on hand, so I procured them.
I loaded about 10 logs into my car, so my lower-back hurts.
歳を取ったのか後から効いてきました。重いものでもセメント袋以上あったでしょうか。
でも、材料を乾燥させチェーンソーで切る楽しみがあるのであまり気にならないですね。
Maybe I'm getting old, but it hurts afterwads.
Was there anything heavier than cement bag?
I don't really care about that Because I enjoy drying the material
and cutting it with a chainsaw.
べし見悪尉2 その3（Beshimi-akujo2 part3） ― 2022/12/17
今月は何かと忙しないですが、キリのいいところで
大型面の彫りが終わりやっと一息付けそうです。
I've been tied up this month. When it's convenient,
I've just carved the large masks for the time being.
I'm finally ｇoing to able to breathe again.
目ラインを終わらせたらすかさず目の輪郭を描きます。
You draw the outline of the eyes as soon as you finish the eye line.
ここまで来ると後は付属品を付けるだけって感じかな。
You've come this far, you feel like you just need to add accessories..
口元の皺は思い切って耳寄りまで持ってきます。
Please bring the wrinkles around the mouth closer to the ears.
表面全てを彫り上げてから、
裏面の反り部分をノコギリで落とします。
After carving the entire front surface,
you remove the warped portion of the back surface with a saw.
裏面は左右均等に彫り進めます。
You should carve the back evenly on the left and right sides.
この段階でそろそろ目と鼻の位置を決めます。
ここからは指で厚みを確認しながらの作業となります。
かなり指にきますよ。
At this stage, it's about time to decide the position of the eyes and nose.
Here, you should carve while checking the thickness with your fingers.
It will put a lot of strain on your fingers.
彫りが終わりました。次の面計画をたてねば。
