般若（hannya） ― 2021/08/28
この般若は2017年に作ったものです。彩色だけまだでした。
何回も作っているとあちこち修正しなければならない箇所に
気づくようになります。
This hannya is also made in 2017,but only colouring was not done yet.

材料を斜めに切り過ぎていないか心配しながらスタートしました。
I started worrying about cutting the material diagonally too much.
まずはセンターラインを決めます。
First, carving the centre line.
次に顔の輪郭を決めます。
この時、彫った中心線を角で痛めない様に
当たる所を確認しながら彫ります。
Next, carving the contour of the face.
At this time, you have to carve checking where it hits.
Make sure that the surface does not hit the corners of the lumber.
頭ライン彫り上げます。頂点が合った時は
やはりうれしくなりますね。
Carved up around the head line.
When it's aligned with the centreline, it makes me happy after all.
アゴは型紙通り一旦彫ってから左右から搾ります。
Once you carve the chin according to the pattern,
then you squeeze it on both sides.
この段階になると、もう愛おしくてじーっと見ていたくなります。
かと言ってこのままにして置く訳にもいかず、意を決して先に進みます。
At this step, it seems adorable to me and want to keep staring it.
But I can't just leave it as it is. I'm going to move on to the next step.
描ける線はどんどん描き込みます。
You have to draw more and more lines that can be drawn.
目はまず一段下げて彫り、各部を徐々に丸くしています。
You carve the eyes one step lower than the surface.
And you make each part gradually rounded.
ここまで来るとほぼ般若を彷彿とさせますね。
When it comes this far, it reminds me of almost Hannya.
目の丸みを確認します。
ライン方向と直角方向両方に丸みをつけます。
Checking the roundness of the eyes.
you have to round both in the line direction
and in the perpendicular direction.
上口ラインはお結び型となります。
口の中を彫った後、型紙を当てて見てももう頂点だけしか
合わないので曲線全体が合うのはこの瞬間だけです。
The upper lip line will be a rice ball type.
You can see the only moment when the entire curve fits.
Because even if you put a paper pattern,
only the vertices will fit after carving the mouth.
ひっくり返して鼻の穴を2か所彫ります。
You turn it over and carve two nostrils.
ここからは角を彫ります。
角は面本体と同じものを彫る覚悟で彫ります。付けたしで彫るなんて
考えでいると失敗しますよ。まずは材料に型紙をトレースします。
I will carve a horn here.
You have to carve the horns with the preparedness
to carve the same thing as the mask body.
If you think about carving with some extras, you will fail.
First, you trace the pattern on the material.
接合部をまず四角に仕上げます。
First you finish the joint in a square.
角本体もあくまで四角に彫りって行きます。
接合部を面の穴より少し大きめに丸くします。
The horn body is also carved into a square.
You round the joint slightly larger than the hole in the mask.
角本体も均等に丸くしていきます。
You also round the horn body evenly.
角の付け根部分をこの時点で初めて丸くします。
You round the base of the horns for the first time at this point.
紙ヤスリを掛けて出来上がり。
接合部は大きめに作って置いて、
面にはめる時になって初めて削りながら
穴の径に合わせていきます。
It's the end with sandpaper.
You make the joint large and put it down.
While scraping only when it fits on the mask,
you're going to adjust it to the diameter of the hole.
裏面ではオデコと口の穴を別々に彫ります。
On the back side,
you carve the hole in the forehead and the mouth separately.
この顔を見れるのはこの時だけですよ。
It's only at this only moment you can see such a face.
角はまだはめていませんが彫り完了です。
I haven't fitted the horns yet, but the carving is complete.
さて、頭の痛くなる彩色です。
胡粉と膠液で下塗り準備です。
Now it's a colouring that makes my head hurt.
Preparation for undercoating with whitewash and glue.
胡粉3～4回繰り返して紙やすり1回掛けで1サイクル。
これを4回前後繰り返します。
Repeating 3-4 times whitewash with sandpaper for 1 cycle.
Repeating this about 4 times.
上塗り準備です。
岩絵の具に少量の胡粉を混ぜて膠液で溶かします。
It's ready for topcoat.
You mix a small amount of whitewash with mineral pigments
and dissolve with glue.
上塗りを塗った状態です。
乾くと色が薄く感じられるので、これを計算に入れて
岩絵の具の量を調整します。
It is in a situation where the top coat is applied.
When it dries, the colour looks pale. So you take this
into account and adjust the amount of mineral pigments.
ぼかしを入れます。
Adding a blur.
古色で変化をつけます。
Changing the expression with an antique colours.
完成しました。
これと同じような般若はもう1個あるのでそれはそれでアップの予定です。
