能面な日々（The days of carving Noh Mask）

つの材料取り終える ― 2023/09/03

2、3日前から朝方、家の中の気温が30度を切るようになりました。

30度ってこんなに涼しかったかなと思うほど今年は暑かったです。

天気予報で連日のお日様マークが続くといささかうんざりしますね。

Since a few days ago, the temperature inside the house has

dropped below 30 degrees in the morning.

It was so hot this year that I wondered if 30 degrees had ever been this cool.

It's a little disgusting when the weather forecast continues 

to show sunshine marks every day.

そんなことでやっと材料切出を終えました。

（あくまで直方体にするだけ。その後斜めの部分をカットしなければなりません。）

今日でつの用に小さめの角材を50個余り切り終えました。般若25個分になります。

So I've finally finished cutting out the material.

But I've just made it a rectangular parallelepiped.

Then I have to cut the oblique part.

Today I finished cutting more than 50 small square pieces 

of lumber for the horns..It's equivalent to 25 Hannya.

恐らくもう般若を25個も作ることはないでしょうが、

勢いに任せて、と言うか木を切るのが面白くて、いや

捨てる部分がもったいなくて、ついつい作業を楽しんだ

というのが本音かな(笑)。

I'll probably never make 25 Hannya again.

Leaving it to the force, or it's fun to cut trees, or

it's a waste to throw away the part,

I guess the truth is that I really enjoyed the work.

これでやっと汗まみれの作業から解放されて

落ち着いて彩色作業に専念できます。

それまで切ったお面用の材料はそのままにしておいても

Now I can finally free myself from the sweaty work 

and concentrate on the colouring work.

Even if you leave the material for the mask that you cut up until then,

勝手に乾燥してくれますからね。

少なくとも2、3年は手は付けられないでしょう。

It dries up nicely.

I won't be able to start for at least a couple of years.
