中将 （Chujo） ― 2025/03/16
昨晩は80代の知り合いと市内の信濃町で軽く飲みました。
最近、彼はガラケーをシニアモードのスマホに替えていました。
高齢なので操作方法がよく分からないと言います。
Last night I ｆancied a quick pint with an acquaintance in his 80s
in Shinanomachi in the city.
Recently, he replaced his old flip phone with a smartphone in senior mode.
He says he is old and doesn't know how to operate it.
何やら簡単モードになっていたようですが私も初めて見た画面。
仕事でいつも使っている画面と違う。結局、新規電話登録方法さえわからず、
何も分からず仕舞いの1時間半でした。
It seems like it was on easy mode. This is the first time I've seen it.
It's different from the screen I usually use for work.
I didn't even know how to register a new phone number and
In the end, I spent an hour and a half not understanding anything.
帰り道、古町のネオン街をどこにも立ち寄らず素通り帰宅。
と言うか立ち寄る習慣がないのでいつもこうなります(笑)。
On the way home, I passed through the neon-lit streets of Furumachi
without stopping anywhere.
Or rather, I don't have the habit of stopping by, so this is always the case.
忙しくてやっと中将を彫り終えました。
今回は部分的な材料の柔らかさに悩まされました。
これだったら硬い方がまだマシ。
I've been busy and just finished carving Chujo.
This time, I was troubled by the softness of some parts of the material.
In this case, it would be better if it was harder.
あくまで部分的な箇所ですがスポンジを切っているようで刃が
肩透かしを食らっています(笑)。
ゴツゴツした男面よりも表面が滑かな女面の方が彫り甲斐があります。
It's only a partial part, but it looks like the sponge is being cut.
The blade is a disappointment.
A smooth female mask is more rewarding to carve than a rough male mask.
春めいて暖かくなって来て彩色に移りたいですが、気になる面も
まだあるのでもう何個か彫りましょう。
It's getting warmer and spring is here, so I want to start painting.
There are still masks that interest me, so let's carve a few more.
中将 （Chujo） ― 2025/02/23
8日の土曜日は何年ぶりに大雪でしたね。でもすぐ溶けましたね。
あちこちで駐車場の雪かきの光景が見られました。
私もその一人でしたけどね。今日は今年最後の大雪かな。
It snowed heavily on Saturday the 8th for the first time in many years.
But it melted quickly.
I could see people shoveling snow from parking lots everywhere.
I was one of them though.
Today is it the last heavy snowfall of the year?
さて、面ですが時間がなくてなかなか進みません。
暖かくなる4月後半くらいまで彫りに徹して、その後は
彩色に移る予定にしようかなと。
Now, regarding the maskt, I don't have much time so I can't make much progress.
I'll devote myself to carving until around the second half of April when it gets warmer.
After that, I think I'll move on to colouring.
しかしそのまま彫りを続けるかも知れません。
手持ちの面の彩色はやるとしたら数か月で終わります。
今の内に彫れるだけ彫っておこうという魂胆です。
However, I may continue carving.
If I were to paint the masks I have, it would take a few months.
I am determined to carve as much as I can within the current time.
（やる気のあるうちに、そして元気な内に(笑)）、
一旦作業が途切れてしまうとまたやる気が出るまで数か月かかるでしょう。
最近、他にもすることが出来たので一段と作る時間がなくなりました。
While I'm motivated and energetic.
Once I stop working, it will take several months before I feel motivated again.
Recently, I've been able to do other things,
so I don't have much time to make anything anymore.
男面は久々です。
材料にムラがあって柔らかすぎて彫るのに苦労しています。
前の猿飛出は逆に硬すぎて腕が疲れた。
今回は強いて言えば、スポンジにグサリと刀を入れる感じかな。
It's been a while since I've carve a male face.
The material is uneven and too soft, making it difficult to carve.
On the contrary, the previous Sarutobide was too hard and my arms got tired.
If I had to say this time, it would be like putting a sword into a sponge.
しかし材料の良い悪いは言ってられません。
経費は掛けられないんでしょうがないですナ。
中将は特徴があるので彫りやすいです。
However, I cannot say whether the material is good or bad.
I can't afford the expenses so I can't help it.
Chujo is easy to carve because of its characteristics.
