般若（赤） (Hannya(Red)) ― 2024/07/14
ここ数日はまだ30度を超えない日が続いているので過ごしやすいですが、
来週あたりから酷暑が待ち構えています。電気代も気になるが般若の穴パッチ
も仕上げておかないと先に進めません。
For the past few days, there have been days where the temperature
has not exceeded 30 degrees. It's easy to spend time though.
Intense heat is about to start around next week.
I'm also concerned about the electricity bill.
You cannot proceed further unless you complete the Hannya hole patch.
パッチできるまで穴を奇麗に開けると結構大きな穴と相成りました。
どんなに穴が大きくてもパッチならば修復可能です。顔の半分くらいの穴でも
大丈夫でしょう。
I drilled the hole neatly until I could patch it, and it ended up being a pretty big hole.
No matter how big the hole is, it can be repaired with a patch.
A hole that's about half the size of the face should be fine.
しかし今回の場合、接着面4面を正確に平らに仕上げるのは手作業では
相当困難であることが予想されました。削っては当てて見て凸凹を
修正していくしかありません。
But in this case, it is expected that it will be quite difficult to finish
the adhesive surface accurately by hand.
The only thing you can do is to correct the unevenness by scraping and checking.
削り過ぎたら穴が大きくなるだです。しかも4面同時にピタッと
合っていなければならない。数週間の格闘の末、妥協してパッチは終わりました。
接着剤にはせっかくなので漆を使いました。
If you cut too much, the hole will get bigger.
Moreover, all four sides must fit perfectly at the same time.
After several weeks of struggle, a compromise was reached and the patch was completed.
I used lacquer as the adhesive.
体の抵抗力が減少したのかな久々に被れました。これも週週間の格闘の末
きれいさっぱり治りましたが。

After weeks of fighting, this also completely healed.

面を作っているとちょっとした木工細工ならやってみようと言う
気分にもなってきます。最近、やむに已まれず網戸を作りました。
寸法測ってホームセンターに行って網と桟木を買って家で加工する。
While making the mask, I'm starting to feel like trying out some small woodwork.
Recently, I made a screen door out of necessity.
Measuring the dimensions, going to a DIY store, buying a net and crosspieces,
and making them in my house.
手間暇かかります。大汗かきます。こんな家の修繕の
オンパレードなここ近年です。さて、これで長年悩まされてきた蚊とも
おさらば出来るかな。暑すぎる夏に突入しました。
It takes time and effort. You break a sweat a lot.

Now, I wonder if I can say goodbye to the mosquitoes that have been
bothering me for so many years.

家の修繕と面作りの同時進行でほぼ自分の時間が消えていきます。
ついでに体の修繕(笑)も加わって来たのでよくある「暇な時間」というものが
なくなりつつあります。

ほんとは山登りを再開して体を健康に保ちたいと言う願望もあるのですが。
何はともあれ般若の彫りが完成しました。裏面のパッチ部はそれほど
被害がなくホッとしています。

Anyway, the carving of Hannya is completed.
I'm relieved that the patch on the back hasn't suffered much damage.
ツノの根元もパッチと同じく接着面をいかに平らに仕上げるという課題は残ります。
さらなる便利な文明の利器を使ってなどと考えるとキリがありません。
As with patches, the issue of how to make the adhesive surface flat for horns remains.
There is no end to it if you think of using even more convenient tools of civilization.
